Strawberry Probiotic Drink (Cocktail or Mocktail)

A refreshing strawberry probiotic drink you can serve as a cocktail or mocktail — made with real fruit, ginger, and a probiotic soda base.

In one of my podcast conversations with my fave gut-health guru Kate Scarlata, I learned that wine is considered a “prebiotic.” (Thanks to its polyphenol content.)

Of note, prebiotics are different than probiotics but both promote good gut health.

But not everyone wants to sip on wine on the regular. In fact, you may have heard there is a growing trend toward non-alcoholic drinks. That got me thinking about how to level-up the gut health quotient of cocktails in general using probiotics.

What I love about this probiotic cocktail is that it’s customizable. It can be non-alcoholic or include vodka or gin.

I first created this cocktail, which used sparkling water rather than a probiotic drink, following a trip to Mexico with my husband. It still stands out in our minds as a refreshing, but complex mixture of flavors.

The addition of the probiotic is such a nice touch… not too sweet, but adding a nice burst of lemon flavor. I’m a fan of both the Lemon-Ginger and Lemon-Cayenne Kevita drinks, so take your pick of the two when choosing one to use in this probiotic cocktail.
