Ingredients
- Cooking spray
- 3/4 cup butter
- 3 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate, coarsely chopped (semisweet chocolate chips can be used as a substitute)
- 3 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 pint vanilla ice cream
- 1/2 cup chocolate syrup or hot fudge topping
- 1/4 cup chopped peanuts
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat and Prepare
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Coat a 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
Step 2: Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a small microwaveable bowl, combine butter and chopped chocolate. Microwave on HIGH in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the mixture is smooth (about 2-3 minutes). Let cool slightly, about 5 minutes.
Step 3: Beat Eggs and Sugar
In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs on medium speed of an electric mixer until light and airy (about 3 minutes). Gradually add sugar, beating until well blended.
Step 4: Mix the Batter
With the mixer running, gradually add the chocolate mixture, then beat in flour and vanilla extract until fully incorporated. The result should be a smooth mixture without a grainy texture.
Step 5: Bake the Pie
Pour the batter into the prepared pie plate. Bake in the preheated oven until the center is firm, about 35 minutes. Let cool until just warm.
Step 6: Add the Toppings
Top evenly with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and peanuts.
